St. Louis has spent fifty years teaching its people to gather at the river and look up, Fair St. Louis has filled the levee under the Arch every July since 1976. That is the crowd a drone show is built for, and this is a city that hands us the two things choreographed light loves most: water to double the show, and the most recognizable silhouette in American architecture to frame it.
The frame matters more than most vendors admit. The Arch grounds are a national park, and overflight is restricted, so the professional move is the honest one: site the show so the crowd sees formation light rising beside the Arch, never over the park’s line, with the Park Service and the FAA in the conversation from day one. Get that right and you have a stage no other city can offer.
Beyond the riverfront, Forest Park’s Art Hill is one of the great natural amphitheaters in urban America, the Balloon Glow already proves how this city turns out for light in the park after dark.
