Immersion Drone Theatre is a national drone light show company. Columbus stages one of America's biggest civic nights every July, and its riverfront was practically drawn for this medium.
A drone light show over the Scioto Mile
Columbus owns a night most cities would trade their skyline for: July 3rd. Red, White & Boom pulls hundreds of thousands of people to the Scioto riverfront every year, the biggest civic audience in Ohio, gathered along a promenade that was rebuilt precisely to hold them. A city that can summon that crowd has already done the hard part of a drone show. The sky is the only thing left to upgrade.
The riverfront is a purpose-built stage. The Scioto Mile puts the audience at the water’s edge with the skyline behind the show and the river doubling every formation, the same geometry that makes waterfront shows the best in the medium. And two miles north stands the Horseshoe, where a hundred thousand people and a century of tradition wait for choreography worthy of a November Saturday, script Ohio has never been written four hundred feet tall.
We tour into Columbus as a complete production: FAA authorization coordinated around John Glenn International and the university’s airport, stadium flight restrictions cleared through the standard process we run all season, two independent geofencing layers, our own power, and insurance documented for the events office. Nothing burns over downtown, nothing falls in the river, and the neighborhoods hear the score, not a barrage.

Columbus sites coordinate with John Glenn International east of downtown and OSU's own airport to the northwest, with stadium event days adding flight restrictions over the Horseshoe, all standard process for us. Every show flies under FAA authorization with two independent geofencing layers and aviation liability insurance, and nothing from the performance touches the river, the stadium turf, or the crowd.

Could a drone show be part of Red, White & Boom?
It is the natural evolution of the event. Boom already gathers hundreds of thousands along the Scioto, the region's biggest audience of the year, and a choreographed drone show can headline or complement the night with no fallout over downtown and no smoke drifting across the river. A production at that scale wants a long runway, we would start with the organizers months ahead.
What would a show at Ohio Stadium look like?
A hundred thousand people, one sky, and choreography written for the loudest traditions in college sports, the script, the band's formations, a century of Novembers, drawn overhead. Stadium event days carry FAA flight restrictions, and clearing them is a process we run routinely. We coordinate with the university and the venue end to end.
