Minneapolis is a drone show city that hasn’t been told yet. Water everywhere, the Mississippi curling through downtown, a chain of lakes stitched into the neighborhoods, and water is the medium’s best friend, doubling every formation in reflection. A festival calendar that refuses to hibernate, from Aquatennial in July to Holidazzle in December to St. Paul’s Winter Carnival in the coldest weeks of the year. And an audience culture that shows up outdoors in any weather, which deserves a spectacle that does the same.
That last part is our edge. We built our winter procedures in high-country mountain operations, cold-soaked batteries, winterized staging, crews that work in gloves, and we hold honest limits rather than optimistic ones. A drone show over a frozen Bde Maka Ska in January, silent enough to hear skate blades between songs, is not a stunt for us. It is the season working as designed.

Can you fly a drone show in a Minneapolis winter?
Yes, winter shows are a specialty we built in high-country mountain operations. Batteries, staging, and crew procedures are winterized, and we hold hard limits: no flight in more than moderate snow or sustained winds of 26 mph and up. A clear January night over a frozen lake, with Holidazzle or Winter Carnival crowds below, is ideal show weather.

Most metro sites sit under Class B shelves, and the stadium core adds event-day restrictions, all of it standard work for us. We run the FAA authorization and the coordination as the first step of every proposal and build the timeline honestly, which usually means starting about 90 days out.
