Detroit has something no other American city can offer, and most people who live there have stopped noticing it. The Detroit River is an international border. When the city fills its riverfront every June, the crowd on the far bank is in another country, watching the same sky. There is no other major American market where the default audience for a show above the water is two nations at once.
That fact cuts both ways, which is the honest version. The border is also the hardest technical constraint in the city. Foreign airspace begins in the middle of the river, so the most desirable geometry Detroit has, a show centered over the water with crowds on both banks, is exactly the geometry that requires the most deliberate planning. It is workable, and it is specialized, and it is the first thing we would raise rather than the last.
The rest of the city is unusually well suited. Hart Plaza is civic ground built directly on the water. Belle Isle is an island park with open space and clean sightlines. Three major sports venues sit within walking distance downtown. And the calendar runs from Movement in May through the June fireworks to a Thanksgiving parade older than most American traditions of any kind.

Detroit carries a constraint no other American market has in quite this form: the international border with Canada runs down the middle of the Detroit River, so the most desirable show geometry in the city sits directly against foreign airspace. A show staged on the riverfront has to be planned and geofenced against that line rather than simply centered on the water. Add Detroit Metro's Class B southwest of the city and Coleman A. Young airport on the near east side, and the siting work here is genuinely specialized. How does the Canadian border affect a Detroit drone show?
It is the defining technical question here, and any provider who does not raise it has not planned a Detroit riverfront show. The international boundary runs down the middle of the Detroit River, which means the best sightlines in the city sit right against foreign airspace. A show has to be sited and geofenced against that line rather than centered on the water the way it would be anywhere else. It is entirely workable, it just has to be deliberate, and we plan it that way from the first conversation.

Yes. Cold-weather procedures are part of how we operate, and we run our own modifications on the owned fleet so it flies longer and holds up better in the cold. We keep hard limits rather than optimistic ones on wind and precipitation. A clear winter night on the river, with the city lit behind the show, is genuinely good conditions for this medium.
