The convention corridor keeps Lucas Oil and the downtown hotels full year-round. In a city this practiced at assembling people outdoors, a drone light show is not a gamble on attendance, it is a better use of a sky the crowds are already standing under.
The venues split neatly between the ceremonial and the colossal. White River State Park gives downtown events a lawn, a canal for reflections, and the skyline as a backdrop.
