Charlotte built its skyline the way a set designer would: tall, tight, and gathered around a park. Romare Bearden Park’s lawn looks up at a wall of lit towers, which means a drone show there gets what most cities can’t offer, architecture composing the frame on every side of the choreography. Add First Night’s New Year crowds, SHOUT!’s spring festival footprint, and two stadiums a walk apart, and Uptown is one of the most stageable urban cores in the South.
The sky above it is serious business, CLT’s Class B shelves cover most of the metro, and stadium event days add their own flight restrictions, which is precisely why Charlotte belongs on a professional’s map rather than a hobbyist’s. Yes. Most Uptown sites sit beneath CLT's shelves, which calls for specific FAA authorization, a process we run as the first step of every Charlotte proposal. Stadium event days add their own restrictions, also routine for us. The approvals take lead time, not luck.
