Hundreds or thousands of drones, each one a single point of light, flying a choreographed program in three dimensions above your audience. Every movement is designed and simulated in advance, choreographed to music, and flown by a certified crew under FAA authorization. At Immersion, we compose four things at once: the story, the sky, the score, and the setting. Anyone can put lights in the air. We build the whole night around the person standing in the crowd. ### How is a drone show different from fireworks? No smoke, no fallout, no noise to speak of. Nothing falls to the ground and nothing burns. That makes drone shows viable at venues, seasons, and sites where pyrotechnics are restricted, and it means your audience hears the score instead of a series of concussions. It is also the only aerial medium that can tell a story. A drone show can spell a name, animate a logo, build a landmark in mid-air, and hold the image long enough for every phone in the crowd to catch it. ### What does a show include? Everything. Our quotes are all-inclusive: creative development, a custom 3D preview to approve, music choreography, the show file, FAA authorization, insurance, crew, travel, our own power on site, and captured footage with a highlight reel. We bring our own generators, so we never draw on venue power. The only thing that ever sits outside the quote is ground space rental, if your site requires one. ### How many drones will my show need? That depends on what you want the sky to do. More drones mean higher resolution: more detail in each image, more depth, and more stories that can unfold at the same time. A common range for a full show is 200 to 400 drones, and we produce shows from 100 up to 3,000. You do not have to pick a number. Tell us your event, your audience, and your budget, and we will bring you the show that fits. ### How does weather affect a drone show? Our aircraft fly in a wide range of conditions, but there are hard limits. We do not fly in sustained winds of 26 mph or more, in more than moderate rain or snow, or with lightning anywhere in the area. Wind limits vary by aircraft platform, and we confirm the exact limits for your show at the proposal stage. Weather is a go/no-go call made by our Remote Pilot in Command on show night. ### How high do the drones fly? Standard drone shows operate up to 400 feet above ground level. Immersion also holds an FAA waiver to exceed 400 feet, which we use when a venue, a skyline, or a viewing distance calls for a taller sky. We request the site-specific authorization as part of planning your show. ### How much space does a show need? It depends on the number of drones, the flight altitude, wind conditions, and any physical obstructions on the site. Higher flight and larger fleets require a larger footprint, and we keep a defined restricted area around the flight zone that the audience never enters. Most events have more usable space than they realize, including water, rooftops, and adjacent parcels. Send us your site and we will tell you exactly what will fit. ### How far in advance should we book? A show can come together in a matter of weeks. We recommend about two months, which gives creative development room to breathe and leaves margin for permits and site work. If your show sits in restricted airspace, plan on 90 days, since airspace authorization is the long pole. For the major holidays, the Fourth of July and New Year’s Eve especially, three to six months is best, because those dates book out first. If your date is close, call us before you assume it is too late. ### Where do you operate? Immersion is based in Windsor, Colorado and produces shows throughout the United States. We operate internationally as well, and travel is included in the quote. ### How much does a drone show cost? Cost is driven by drone count, choreography complexity, location, and venue logistics. We scope every show to your event and send a real number with optional rendering examples custom to your show, not a flat guess. ### Are drone shows safe for a crowd? Yes. FAA Part 107 operations, aviation liability insurance, and two independent geofencing layers keep every drone locked into the performance zone and away from spectators. ### Can you fly a drone show indoors? In many venues, yes. Indoor shows use tighter choreography and equipment suited to enclosed spaces, and they work best in rooms with the height and clearance to let formations read. We will tell you honestly whether your ballroom or atrium can hold the show you have in mind, or whether an outdoor setting will serve it better. ### What does it take to fly at a stadium? Major stadiums sit inside a standing FAA Temporary Flight Restriction on event day, which calls for specific authorization on top of a Part 107 certificate. We handle that filing and the coordination with your venue, league, and local authorities as part of our process. ### Do you provide insurance certificates and procurement documents? Yes. We provide certificates of insurance, additional-insured endorsements, W-9s, and RFP responses, and we work within municipal timelines and council approval cycles. ## Guides - [Drone Show vs. Fireworks: Which Fits Your Event?](https://immersion.show/news/drone-show-vs-fireworks/): Drone shows vs. fireworks compared on fire risk, noise, cost, and story, plus how to combine both.
